It is interesting to read recently about MPs, politicians, community leaders and even mayors sharing their creative ideas on how to remove those unsightly "Ah Long" or loan shark banners, poster, banners or buntings found on our street lampposts.
The question is why took them so long to realize the menace of Ah Long to ordinary folks and that now suddenly they have to do something about it including those banners .....
Malaysia is blessed with governing and administrative systems which we have inherited from western country and we are proud also to have refined them to suit the needs and the benefits of the ordinary folks. With this in place, by right we should be able to have a beautiful townships with neat and tidy lampposts.... and rid of the opportunities for Ah Long to advertise their services..... then where did we go drastically wrong?
Enforcement, enforcement and enforcement or to be exact lacking the discipline and will of effective enforcement by local authorities or town/municipal councils!
What have they been doing all these years with the public funds and still ineffective in their works!
It is so clear cut that when you travel from one township to another (MPKj to MPSJ for example), there are drastic differences in appearance of the townships due to ineffective enforcement control over what could be put up and what could not be put up thru the advertising control permits of the local authorities.
If and if they are doing their jobs effectively and issue permits properly to the rightful & deserved advertisers, would we have any issues at all on these Ah Long's menace?
Why bother to come up with creative ideas on how to get rid all these posters/banners of Ah Long if we start have a grip of the application for adverting permits and have a strong and effective enforcement control...
Brothers & sisters at the town/municipal councils, please wake up quickly as we are in 21st century now and we all have to do our part professionally to earn our keeps!
Please start doing something about this Ah Long's menace before it gets out of hand with another poor folks got chained up and treated like an animal again ....
Rakyat is the boss and not those at town or municipal counsels!
We would vote you OUT as MPs/State Assemblymen next time round if you do not deliver AGAIN!
